IMPACTS OF NANOMEDICINE

With new scientific technology come new job opportunities. The nanomedical sector is expected to create more jobs and positions in the field of science, technology, and medicine: nanobioscientics, nanoengineers, and nanopharmacists. Nanobioscienctists are medical experts who consider the extent of nanomedicine and the possibility of utilizing the new technology to treat serious diseases, such as cancer, where the nanoparticles directly attack the damaged cell. Nanoengineers, on the other hand, provide nanobioscientists and with the tools and technology in order to apply nanomedicine. Nanoengineers produce the necessary building materials at the nanoscale and assemble nanoparticles together. Nanopharmacists develop and manufacture medicines using nanotechnology, such as quantum dots and nanoscale drugs that will infuse nanoparticles and thus enter the human body for healing purposes.

STOCKS

As a new "hype" in the world of science and medicine, nanomedicine attracted the idea of stocks into its sector. With recent numerous breakthroughs, nanomedicine spurred an increased attention from investors.

THE FUTURE

Nanomedicine is still considered a young sector of the scientific worlds and thus the majority of nanotechnology-based medicines are curently in clinical trials. Soon, however, the new technology will enter the market and allow delivery of anti-cancer drugs directly to the site of the tumor with the use of nanoparticles, tissue engineering and regeneration, and even diagnostic sensors for a wide range of dangerous diseases. Substantially, nanotechnology will help improve medical imaging tools, such as MRIs and CAT scans - both improving their efficiency and safety.

The National Nanotechnology Initiative (NNI) - a U.S. Government "research and development initiative that coordinates funding for nanotechnology among the participating Federal departments and agencies" - works to help support new nanomedical companies and lead a revolution in technology and medical treatments. NNI's agencies help develop educational resources and tools in order to train a skilled workforce for future job openings in the field of nanomedicine.
